Hey guys
I just wanted to share my experience with mining, still being a beginner at this whole cryptocurrency market.
**DISCLAIMER**
* I don't know much about mining, so what I'm about to share may be a very wrong way
I don't know. Please let me know ^_^.
* This is a Windows 7 64bit installation process, you need to change the steps yourself to do it in any other OS than this.
* I haven't seen or tested the change in my electric bill or the pressure on the CPU or anything. This may be wrong of me, again please let me know ^_^.
**END DISCLAIMER**
At first, not being very technical, I had many problems with getting CG-miner to work. - It kept rejecting me and yeah guess I wan't things to work the first time so I gave up a bit
Then I thought of mining through my wallet application;
get
-QT here: .pw/
.zip" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">
.pw/
.zip
This required a miner to execute the mining part;
get CPU-Miner here: github.com/downloads/pooler/cpuminer/pooler-cpuminer-2.2-win64.zip
Let's begin the process:
1. Extract both the zip folders (yeah.. I said it)
2. Throw all the files from the CPU-miner folder into the
folder
3. Open up the "
-qt.exe" (this can take a few seconds for it to load)
4. Let the application/wallet get in sync
5. Register a wallet.
6. Go into the "Mining" tab
7. Now here it is important to choose which pool to mine from. I use the 0% fee pool, Admin has mentioned.. so that is where I'm going from.
7a. Type: Pool Mining
7b. Threads: 99
7c. Scantime: 99
7d. Debug Logging: unchecked
7e. Server:
.prominer.org
7f. Port: 5432
7g. Username: Go to the ""Receive Coins" tab and copy the address; this what you paste into username
7h. Password: x (as in only an "x", without the quotes)
7i. Press Start Mining
8. You should now see the text: "Miner started. You might not see any output for a few minutes.
9. After this the text "hh:mm:ss - Share Accepted" or "hh:mm:ss - Share Rejected" will roll in, in different intervals.
10. The funds will be deposited directly into your wallet, seeing as you've given the address as your username.
* As I see it, with the default setup of CPU-miner and the threads and scantime I've used, the CPU pretty much keeps at a 100% usage, and the RAM at about 50%.
* This drops every once in a while. But yeah it allows me to do other things in my PC silmultaneously, f.eks. play a game or use photoshop.
* I'm currently running at a speed of approx. 40.000 khash/sec and getting between 15 - 30 NetCoins/hour.
* This is primarily a guide for complete beginners, to get an idea of what mining is and how to get something up and running pretty fast.
I hope you find this simple guide useful and again.. PLEASE tell me if I'm doing something wrong - I'm still very much learning.
